We are so excited to announce the launch of our new {ipad and mobile} friendly website…complete with separate portrait and wedding sites! There are tons of new, bigger, beautiful photos to view. Check out this amazing story about me and the success with Amy Clark Studios on Women with Moxie! I am thrilled to be included in this amazing group of women! Huge thank you to Terrecce Clarke for thinking of me.

Amy Clark is doing what she loves and what many don’t think is possible – expanding during a recession.  Amy Clark Studios recently moved into a new store front photography studio in the hip oasis that is the Short North District in Columbus, Ohio. The studio has experienced consistent growth since she first opened it in 2007.

MOXIE: How has your business expanded during this recession when many families have cut discretionary spending?

CLARK: Honestly, I think I have been lucky with the recession in that when I established my business, I aligned myself with a client base that hasn’t really been affected by the recession a whole lot. My clients value my photography and are willing to spend their money on a photo session and prints knowing that they are not just getting a picture on a piece of paper, but rather preserving the memory of what their family was like at that particular point in time.

I do have those few clients as well who have been affected by the recession but still value my work. Those clients will always hold a special place in my heart because I know that they are choosing my photography services over a vacation or that coveted new handbag.

MOXIE: Tell us about the new studio.      

CLARK: I have always had the dream of having my own photography studio in an urban area of town. When I first started in this business, I worked strictly on-location. Eventually, I decided to try a “studio-like setting” in my home. Within a few months, many of my clients were booking sessions in the studio and I began to dread having sessions knowing that my kids would be screaming upstairs, the dogs would be barking and the house would need to be clean.
